Udawalawe Safari Cost & Pricing Guide

Your total safari cost has two parts: the private jeep hire from Chamindu Safari ($35–$95 per jeep depending on duration) plus the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC) national park entrance tickets, which tourists purchase at the park gate on the day. The jeep price is fixed regardless of group size (up to 6 guests), so the more people sharing a jeep, the lower the per-person cost.

Park entrance fees are set by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC) and are paid directly at the Udawalawe National Park main gate on arrival — they are not included in the jeep hire price. Fee rates are in USD for foreign tourists and are subject to change by DWC. Our team will advise you of current rates when you book.

All Chamindu Safari prices are per private jeep, not per person. Each jeep comfortably seats up to 6 guests. A group of 4 sharing a $35 Normal Safari pays less than $9 per person for the jeep — making it excellent value compared to group-tour operators.

The jeep hire price covers your private open-top 4×4 safari vehicle reserved exclusively for your party, an experienced local driver and wildlife tracker, all in-park fuel, and complimentary hotel pickup and drop-off within the Udawalawe area. Park entrance tickets are paid separately at the gate.

No advance payment is required to confirm your booking. You pay the jeep hire fee directly to your driver on the day of the safari in USD or Sri Lankan Rupees. Park entrance fees are paid separately at the DWC ticket office at the park gate.

Since no advance payment is required, there are no cancellation fees. Simply let us know as early as possible if your plans change so we can offer your slot to other guests. We understand that travel plans can shift and are always flexible.
